New Single ‘AMERICA’ Out Now

Our new single ‘AMERICA’ is out everywhere TODAY! It’s a love letter to the country in which many bands want to break it big. Like other Canadian acts before us, we see America as the promised land where bands go to realize their musical dreams. We’ve made the pilgrimage to the US a few times during our career, playing stages in New York City’s Bowery district, filming videos in Times Square, rocking out in Cleveland, and soaking up the sun in San Diego—the experiences have consistently been magical. Our love of American hard rock has always been tempered by an equal love of Motown soul, sun-drenched Beach Boys-esque harmonies, and Black Crowes-style southern rock. The influence of the US on Fool’s Union’s brand of rock ‘n’ roll runs deep.

The track “America” combines the Southern roots rock sound of The Band and the catchy Brit rock stomp of Oasis into an undeniably memorable three minutes of music. The song features a dual harmony vocal from Nick and Adam that is equal parts Rick Danko & Levon Helm and Liam & Noel Gallagher. If America needs a new national anthem, here it is.

New Single ‘This Is Heavy’ Out Now!

We’re so stoked that our new single ‘This Is Heavy’ is out NOW everywhere! We hunkered down in our studio to make a chilled out pop tune and ‘This Is Heavy’ is the result of that experimentation. This is Fool’s Union at our most chilled out. This is part of our ‘Deep Cut’ series of singles – it’s our way of bringing back the b-side. A lot of the bands we love, from The Beatles to Foo Fighters, have lesser known tracks they released as the flip side their big singles. We want our catalog to have the same depth and meaning as our musical heroes, so we’re building out the Fool’s Union discography in new and exciting ways.

Nick had this to say about the track:

“It is both a nod to my favourite line from the ‘Back to The Future’ Trilogy and also a just a straight up love song. But it’s not necessarily a romantic love song, it can be about love for anything – people, music, food – anything that brings you comfort at the end of the day. We’re always turning up the amps to 11, but this time we’re chilling the fuck out. We hope you’ll chill with us.”

We also just dropped the official music video for the song, watch below!

Spotify Wrapped 2022

The best day of the year is here: SPOTIFY WRAPPED 2022! We hope all the cool music you listened to this year showed up on your Wrapped list, and none of the embarrassing stuff you don’t want anyone to know about. Either way, it looks like at least some of you listened to us this year, and for that we are eternally grateful. We hope you liked the tunes and we have plenty more on tap for 2023! And even before we get to the new year, we’re releasing our new single ‘This Is Heavy’ December 2nd. So much goodness to share, we can’t wait!

New Single ‘This Is Heavy’ Out December 2

Gather round the fire kids, our new single ‘This is Heavy’ is coming out December 2nd! Part of our new ‘Deep Cuts’ series of singles – ‘This Is Heavy’ is a bit of a different vibe for us, it has more of an electronic, R&B sort of feel. When we’re not working on big, anthemic rock songs together in the jam room, we’re usually in one of our home studios cooking up some sort of different musical concoction.

‘This Is Heavy’ is the result of that experimentation, but is definitely still a full on band effort. Nick laid down the main guitar part and a soulful Marvin Gaye inspired vocal, Dave played a slinky and sexy as hell bass line, Adam provided the funk on electronic drums, and Jon capped it all off with an inspired guitar solo. Need we say more? This tune in particular was written a long time ago, it’s a bit of a ‘deep cut’ but it’s a song we always wanted to share with the world. This is Fool’s Union at our most chilled out – this song is meant to be listened to on a nice couch, joint in hand, waiting for your love to come home.

The title ‘This Is Heavy’ is a nod to the famous line from ‘Back To The Future’ – we love taking cool lines from movies and writing a song around them. Funnily enough, despite the heavy title, this is actually our least heavy song, and we’re cool with that. We didn’t want to let 2022 pass us by without releasing another new tune, so consider this our Christmas gift to you! And don’t worry, our next rock anthem is on the way very soon!

‘This Is Heavy’ is available on all streaming and download services December 2nd.

New Single ‘RAVEN LAKE’ Out Now!

Our new single ‘Raven Lake’ is out now! We love this song and hope you do too. Here’s what Nick had to say about the story behind the song:

Drums for the song were recorded at RHC Music in Toronto by Ross Citrullo, the rest was recorded and produced by us, and the song mixed by the legendary Gavin Brown (Billy Talent, Thee Days Grace, Mother Mother, The Trews). ‘Raven Lake’ is a contemplative but still high energy tune that features a driving drum beat from Adam Cannon, pulsing bass from Dave Marini, a killer solo by Jon Daly, and an emotional vocal from Nick Cino. Nick had this to say about the song:

“‘Raven Lake’ was written at the real Raven Lake near Dorset in northern Ontario. I had rented a cottage that was the end of a long drive through a dense forest, but led to an oasis on the lake. It’s about how we all desire to escape somewhere that is remote and quiet, away from the all the noise and pressures of everyday life. We go to these places not only for rest and relaxation, but also for reflection and, if we can find it, redemption.”

Stream ‘Raven Lake’ now on the streaming service now! And check out the video for the tune, we trekked out to the middle of nowhere to film the video, and we think it’s pretty rad. Watch below!
